11/30/2024 0 Comments WINTER 2024-2025 FASHION VISION BOARDFor most people, winter is a time to slow down, stay indoors, and essentially hibernate until spring comes along. While I will be partaking in this slow pace lifestyle shift, I don't plan on sacrificing my sense of style during these colder months. In fact, as a person who loves layering, winter provides the perfect time to experiment with my look. In this post I'm breaking down the styles, trends, and clothing combos I aspire to wear this winter. HEAVILY ACCESSORIZED BAGSWhen I was a child, my souvenir from family vacations was always pins. I'd scour the gift shop shelves for the perfect miniature pin to add to my collection. Now, at 26, I still buy a pin on every trip I go on. I've also gotten really into keychains lately (the stuffed animal kind you often find in Chinatown). Additionally, perhaps my best purchase of this year was a button maker. All these fun trinkets are essentially useless, however, if you do not have a place to put them. Instead of simply sitting in a box under my bed, I want to give my keychains and pins a living home, aka put them on my purses, tote bags, and backpack. OVER-THE-TOP OUTFITSIn my mind, my style is so colorful, accessorized, patterned, and "out there," but when I see photos of myself I find my outfits actually look pretty tame. I'll mix two patterns together and think "wow, this is crazy!" but to be honest I can take my outfits further. I plan to use winter as a time to experiment with more over-the-top looks, have fun, and let myself try out those crazier clothing combos without self-judgement or fear of judgement from others. LAYERING!The technique of layering has remained a consistent theme among these seasonal fashion vision boards of mine, and for good reason. Layering is a great way to add dimension and interest to an outfit, not to mention layering is essential for staying warm during a harsh Chicago winter! I've loved the look of layering a plaid shirt over jeans for a while now, but have never been able to pull the trigger and try out this look myself. If I truly lean into testing out over-the-top outfits, however, perhaps you'll see me wearing this layering look this season. COLORFUL WORK WARDROBEI'll be honest, about 90% of the time I wear the same outfit to work- black cargo pants, black Target t-shirt, Doc Martens, and a jacket. Not very creative (and definitely not very colorful). I feel like a superhero who wears the same drab outfit to the office every day, then changes into their suit (or fun, colorful clothes) once they're off the clock. Maybe it's the validation-seeking side of me, but I want people at work to know that I have good fashion sense and actually like fun, exciting clothes. Additionally, life is too short to wear the same dull look every single weekday. Therefore, one of my goals this winter is to wear more colorful clothes into the office. Even throwing on a bright pink sweater or swapping out blue jeans for a pair of patterned pants can totally transform a look. Let's take a stroll down memory lane. Here is my old fashion vision board from winter 2022-2023. SEE YOU NEXT SATURDAY WITH ANOTHER FASHION POST.
